Ancestral Meditation - Virtual
This session will move you through a guided visualization drawn from indigenous healing models throughout the African Diaspora. This active meditation is designed to help you connect with ancient ancestral wisdom.
WHY AN ANCESTRAL MEDITATION?
Prayer can be defined as one’s process of talking to divine wisdom (or god), while meditation is the process of listening to messages from that source. The use of prayer and meditation is often shaped by your religious beliefs. However, these activities are not culture bound to religion. In this ancestral meditation, you will have the opportunity to listen to your inner wisdom. Ancient deep thought among many ethnic groups in the African Diaspora see this inner wisdom as being guided by the ancestors. For example, among the Yoruba, some people are not only believed to be the ancestors returned, everyone is encouraged to first seek support from them to address personal needs. This is also true among the Akan, Dagara, Igbo, and many other ethnic groups when examining indigenous African beliefs systems. Thus, part of the healing journey for people of African ancestry is to reconnect with their ancestral wisdom. This meditation will provide each participant the opportunity to do just that.
