In this 1.5-hour Live Stream, Dr. Joanne Spence (Trinidad), Dr. Dawn Stewart (Guyana), Dr. Sinead Younge (Guyana), and Dr. Tiesha Nelson (Jamaica) join Ms. Alethea Bonello (Jamaica) to discuss the factors influencing mental healthcare for Caribbean women of African descent.

This session is by and about Caribbean women of African descent. The panelists will discuss the unique mental health needs facing women in the Caribbean when accessing care.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Describe the unique needs of Caribbean women when seeking mental healthcare.
2. Discuss barriers to treatment that prevent women of Caribbean ancestry from accessing care.
3. Identify risk factors impacting pre-mature treatment termination during inter-cultural counseling sessions.
