If Mama Ain't Happy, Nobody’s Happy | The Role of Parental Mental Illness on Children

Workshop Description
In this one-hour CE workshop, we’ll explore how parental mental illness shapes children’s emotional, cognitive, and relational development through using an African-centered and family systems framework. Grounded in principles of community wellbeing, learn the ways that intergenerational trauma, institutional barriers affect families and learn effective practices to foster resilience in both parents and children.

Learning Objective
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Articulate the core impacts of parental mental illness on child development—emotionally, cognitively, and socially—within an intergenerational trauma framework.
